Grand Opening
Artist Reception:
May 31st 6-9pm
The Parkside Arts Council is pleased to announce an Artist Reception at
the newly renovated Parkside Members’ Gallery on May 31st from 6 -9 pm. The
centerpiece of the celebration is a retrospective showcase of works produced
through the illustrious and varied career of Charles
Culver. Light refreshments will be available to the public at the opening
reception.
Culver was an influential Detroit
area painter, illustrator and cartoonist (1908-1967) with strong Bellaire ties
who produced notable work during his life in Antrim County.
He worked independently, largely in watercolor, while in Antrim
County, and worked commercially while
in southeast Michigan.
Several of his works will be available for sale.
The recently updated Parkside Members’ Gallery
features the art work of over 20 artists and craftspeople from Antrim County
and surrounding area who work in a variety of mediums. It is located in the
Community Hall building at 202 N.
Bridge Street in Bellaire. The Parkside Arts
Council strives to provide educational and cultural opportunities for children
and adults throughout Antrim
County.
